A painting is a location where actions collect and affect each other. The viewer's act of perception creates a current of communication with the work, flowing in both directions between them. The through-lines that connect all of my work are the use of essential forms, such as the circle, as both diagrams of and metaphors for inner and outer space, doubling/ reflection/ symmetry, and a focus on the properties of materials as conveying meaning in and of themselves.
